How can Ukrainians get to know Europe and their culture? Our answer is the EUFF 2024 online from the EU Delegation to Ukraine.
The European Union Film Festival (EUFF), which has a 30-year tradition in Ukraine, is organised by the Delegation of the European Union to Ukraine in cooperation with the European cultural institutions Goethe-Institut, Institut Français and Cineuropa.
The online festival was held on a special VOD platform that allowed users to watch European films in their original languages with Ukrainian subtitles for free in just a few clicks. The main programme of the festival was reinforced by accompanying events of various formats, including cooperation with embassies, an offline opening screening, filming of the EU Ambassador's video speech and the development of online quizzes with prizes for the winners.
The MAINSTREAM team organised a collaboration with the embassies of EU member states, which also added a curated selection of films to the festival programme. An exclusive opening screening, organised in partnership with one of the EU embassies, took place on the eve of the festival. The event was attended by media, opinion leaders, film critics and students from Ukrainian universities.
To attract the attention of a wide audience, the team conducted a large-scale media campaign, including a press office, media partnerships, a social media campaign, and e-mail newsletters to participants, which ensured a significant level of engagement and awareness.
As a result, audience engagement with online screenings was 234% higher than in the previous season in 2023. The EUFF website was visited by over 13,000 unique users, and 2,577 people participated in the festival programme. The project reached about 1,936,390 people (excluding media publications). We received 75 media publications and released one special project in the media.
