Liliya Podkopaeva has gathered representatives of the main political forces of Ukraine at the auction
15 photo-pictures with images of children (by courtesy of the producer center ‘VISKOV’, stylized by photo-artist Alexander Shimbarovskiy) were lots of the auction. The raised sum amounted to 525 000 UAH, which would be spent to start the shootings of a documentary film about children-orphans.
‘ÀRENA ENTERTAINMENT’ turned into the platform of good will. Representatives of the three main political forces of Ukraine took part in the auction, namely: Nestor Shufrich, Alexander Klimenko and Valeriy Pisarenko, who were brought together that evening by the desire to participate in the lives of children-orphans and by the concern for the future of our country. The event was attended by well-known businessmen and art-workers, among which were: Elena Petrenko, the founder of ‘Petrus’ Holding Company; Liliya Kuznetsova, the president of the Contest ‘Miss Ukraine’ and many others. A popular TV-presenter Andrey Domansky was the MC. The first picture ‘For the future of the champion’, being knocked down for 50 000 UAH, was bought by Elena Franchuk, the daughter of the ex-president Leonid Kuchma and the head of ‘ANTIAIDS’ Foundation. Vasiliy Gorbal paid the similar sum, however he purchased two photopictures. The picture ‘Football player’ was sold for 30 000 UAH to Mr. Dzhurinskiy, the head of ‘VD’ Group of Companies. The picture ‘Jolly Cook’ drew attention of a people's deputy Vladislav Lukjanov, and Ukrainian publisher Valid Arfush bought the photopicture ‘Adultly’. Nestor Shufrich planked down 25 000 UAH for the canvas titled ‘Merry Santa’ without a moment’s hesitation. ‘I’ll hang this picture in the room of my son, – Mr. Shufrich commented. – He should see that it is necessary to do good deeds and to help people’. And Ali Reza Rezazade, the deputy director of ‘Enran Telekom’, appeared to be the most generous person, who purchased as many as three pictures at that evening, having spent 75 000 UAH.
The last picture, representing the adopted son of L. Podkopaeva in the image of gutter-child, turned out to be the most expensive lot of the auction. Timofey Nagorniy has personally paid 70 000 UAH, having hardly outbidden Elena Franchuk who also participated in the bidding. ‘He is the dearest person for me, – admitted the father of the boy, clasping the photopicture. – And I would never give it to anybody. If bids for the picture increased, I would have paid a million of hryvnias, only to get hold of it’.
The obtained sum in 525 000 UAH will be used to start shootings of a documentary film about children-orphans. The film will be based on true stories of kids from orphanages who did manage to find parents. The leading part in the film will be performed by the 2-year-old Vadim, who was adopted by Liliya Podkopayeva and her husband Timofey Nagorniy in the summer of 2006.
The auction was carried out in the framework of the project ‘Stars for Children’. A charitable gala concert is expected to be held in the open-air at the main square of the country – Maidan Nezalezhnosti in June, on the International Day of Children’s Protection. Masters of dance, acrobatics, ballet, as well as Ukrainian and Russian pop-stars will take the stage. Over 200 thousand inhabitants of Kiev and visitors of the capital will be able to see this enthralling show, being organized in support of the decree of the President of Ukraine about ‘Year of National Child Adoption’.
‘Mainstream’ has undertaken the press-support of the auction. The event was announced on two radio-stations. About 40 representatives of capital mass-media were present at the auction, among which were: 9 TV-channels (Tonis, UTR, 1+1, 5 Kanal, TRK Kiev, UT-1, KDR TRK, Mega Sport), 23 printed mass-media and 7 Internet media.
