Mainstream Communication & Consulting acted as co-organizer of a press conference "State and Trends in State-Confession Relations in Ukraine in 2009", which took place in the news agency Ukrinform, on January 12, 2010.

The point of view on the declared topic expressed the Head of State Committee on Nationalities and Religions of Ukraine Yuriy Reshetnikov; Head of the Board of NGO Institute for Religious Freedom Oleksandr Zaiets; and a people’s deputy, Head of Deputy Group «For Spirituality, Morality and Health of Ukraine» Pavlo Unguryan.

National theologians recognized the year 2009 the most successful and productive in the sphere of state-confessions relations in Ukraine for the whole period of its independence.

Yuriy Reshetnikov told that the society finally managed to adjust efficient partner dialogue in this sphere, to which attested numerous meetings of the first persons of the state with church leaders, as well as the package of settled church community’s issues that remained unsolved for years.

According to the parliament member Pavlo Unguryan, it was the initiative of the Government that Verkhovna Rada passed the Law of Ukraine "About amendments to some laws of Ukraine as to the rights of religious organizations to permanent use of land plots." Accordingly, churches and religious organizations could use the land plots on the permanent basis, with land tax exemption. Authorities fixed gas rates at the level of residential tariffs (and not tariffs for commercial institutions as it was planned earlier).

Currently about 10 bills concerning freedom of religion and activity of religious organizations are under consideration of Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
